Thank you so much for doing this! Unfortunately I will not be able to catch this live. Will this be available for replay?
Hi Liz, thank you for hosting this Seller Circle session with Kye Mou and the eBay Ads team. 🙏
It was such an informative discussion! Could you please share the link to the video replay (or let us know if it will be posted soon)? I’d love to review all the details again. 💙
Hey Sergey! There won't be a video replay. It was only recorded for eBay's internal usage. I totally understand why everyone wants it public. I wanted to make this a private event so everyone could feel safe to come on camera and share their opinions and comments without external judgement (If I know something is public, I will not put myself out there like I did last night).
However, my friend Julie (CasaChic) is doing a public one I think next week. I'll come back here and let you know so you can either attend in person or watch on replay! It will be Kye and Rishi again.
Absolutely understand, Liz - that makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for creating a comfortable space for open discussion and giving us the chance to hear directly from Kye, Rishi, and the eBay Ads team. It really helps all of us stay informed and support each other in the community. 💙💛💚❤️
Thanks for organizing Liz and a huge thank you to Ebay employees who were brave enough to join.
I understand what they are saying about WHY they made this change but it still doesn't feel right as a full time seller. Ebay is my only income and in Texas we just got hit with a tax on fees and now this.
When I receive an offer (or sometimes just a question) on one of my items, if it is a lowball offer I will always counter or decline and there are so many times another buyer will come in and purchase it at full price. What that tells me is the algorithm says "hey, something is special about this item so let's move it up in search". When I teach ebay beginners I also tell them to answer questions and counter offers. Don't take it personal if they get lowballs because any attention to the item is good.
So I think Ebay is saying that PL work the same and bring attention to our items when we get a click. BUT 30 days after the click?? I find that hard to believe we would still be benefitting from that click 30 days later. This is what seems excessive and frankly not ok.
I am a huge ebay fan because of their communication with sellers. So yes, I will look into my PL and make some adjustments. And even though I don't agree with this new fee, I appreciate Kye and the ads team for showing up and listening to our feedback.
I am 100% there with you! I love having my business on eBay. Last night was a great opportunity and I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity. I still do not like this change. I'll just have to play around with it and maybe just ditch my General campaigns after I give it a test drive.
I used to ONLY sell on eBay. I was SUPER loyal to only having one platform. Then I realized that I was trying to run a business and needed to expand myself. So far this year, only 62% of my sales have been on eBay.
I should correct my original post that ebay is where most of my sales come from. You are right that we need to figure out other places to make money for our business. Right now Ebay is 85% and I sell 10% on Posh and 5% on FBM. I may need to make some adjustments.
I was selling on Amazon FBA but quickly learned they are a horrible business partner and I was competing with them. Amazon needs to pick a lane...Platform or Seller. Plus their communication with sellers is terrible. That is why I love ebay so much. And of course our seller community.
I completely agree with you, Marilyn. eBay’s idea to align with other ad platforms makes sense, but maybe a 7–14 day window would feel more fair and realistic.
Thirty days is a long time - if a buyer returns weeks later, that sale probably isn’t from the original click. Hopefully eBay can find a better balance for both sides. 💙💛💚❤️
Liz,
A big THANK YOU for hosting this. I have more insight into this change now, and am feeling pretty confident that I can continue with a General Ad campaign in January, but with some changes of my own. I will try to attend Case Chic's event next week if possible.
